The energy sector operates infrastructure considered critical to national security — power grids, plants, substations — where any leak of operational data carries serious security risk. SCADA data and industrial control (OT) systems are therefore always designed to be fully isolated from the Internet, making cloud-based AI platforms nearly impossible to deploy. Meanwhile, equipment maintenance remains largely reactive — addressed only after a failure occurs — causing significant operational disruption and loss.
A fully air-gapped predictive-maintenance AI system can move fault-detection time from hours-to-days down to near real time, cutting unplanned failures by 30–50% and maintenance costs by 20–30%. In parallel, an operations-support and technical-lookup AI assistant can shorten the time to look up a procedure or handle an incident from 10–30 minutes to under a minute, while helping new staff train two to three times faster thanks to a standardised, always-available knowledge source.
The key point for the energy sector is that all SCADA and OT data runs entirely on internal infrastructure, isolated from outside networks — meeting critical-infrastructure safety requirements while still harnessing the predictive and operational-support power of modern AI.
